Some pictures I made last week with Sayaka Akitsu and her 3 dancers at PARTS school in Brussels.
Bodies in movement can convey so many strong emotions, you can feel love or anger expressed through the body.
There is such a force, a vitality translated into a move. I can say enough how much I love dancers and this kind of magical grace they have when they perform.
Please check Sayaka’s work on her web: www.sayaka-akitsu.net
In this series of picture I photographed her project Blind piece.
Blind piece:1 Happiness
Concept & choreography Sayaka Akitsu
"Blind piece" is a dance project. This piece includes scenes that the audience will not see. Following the sound of a bell, Sayaka will ask the audience to close their eyes at certain moments during the piece. Dance scenes will alternate with blind moments while viewers imagine, think, feel and remember. In a dialogue with the public, the piece explores the notion of happiness.
This project is currently in research towards its Japanese premiere in March 2015 at Kobe produced by JCDN in a collaboration with Dance box Kobe. Taking places at Magpie improvisation summer course/ Amsterdam and PARTS summer studio/ Brussels.
